Our Story

How many pieces of jewelry do you own that you don’t actually wear?

The one that turned your finger green. The bracelet that felt heavy by dinner. The expensive one that came with rules: don’t shower in it, don’t sweat in it, take it off before the gym, before the pool, before bed, and put it back in the box.

Nobody follows the rules. You take a ring off at one sink and leave it at another. Eventually there’s a drawer, and it’s full. (Or maybe you never started at all.)

ASHLUME started with my own full drawer.

I have sensitive skin, and I was tired of my fingers turning green and of taking jewelry on and off for every outfit and every occasion. I had no patience for pieces that needed babying.

So I made rings, bracelets, and necklaces from solid titanium, the same metal used in medical implants and eyeglass frames. There’s no nickel, no brass, and no plating to wear off. It doesn’t tarnish, and it’s light enough to forget you’re wearing it.

Solid Titanium, Not Plated

Every ASHLUME ring, bracelet, and necklace is solid titanium all the way through: no plating, no coating.

Gold plating is a thin layer over a base metal, often brass or steel. With daily wear, that layer can thin and wear through, and then the base metal is what touches your skin. A coating that wears off also means a replacement piece sooner.

Solid costs more once. Plated can cost you again and again.

02 // Care

Nothing to Baby

No special routine. No rules to remember.

Most jewelry comes with conditions. ASHLUME doesn’t. Wear it in the shower, at the gym, and to bed. When it needs a refresh, mild soap and water will do. Our Care Guide has the details.

Every piece comes in a black linen pouch. It’s for traveling, not for protecting.

03 // Wear

The Patina

Don’t protect it. Wear it.

Titanium is strong and lightweight, but it isn’t scratch-proof. Over time, everyday wear leaves small marks and a soft, lived-in finish. That’s normal wear, not damage, and it’s not tarnish: nothing fades, flakes, or wears through to another metal, because there’s no coating.

A year in, it’ll look like your life and nobody else’s.

What is ASHLUME jewelry made of?

ASHLUME chains are made of solid Grade 1 titanium (commercially pure). Our rings are made of solid ASTM F136 titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI), the same implant-grade alloy used in orthopedic and dental implants. Neither has plating or coating. It’s solid titanium all the way through.

You’ll find titanium in three places that explain why we use it:

  • Medical implants. Titanium is biocompatible, which means the body tolerates it well.
  • Aerospace and marine engineering. If it can handle outer space and the deep ocean, it can handle your sweat.
  • Eyeglass frames. It’s light enough to wear all day and forget you have on.
Is ASHLUME jewelry pure titanium?

It depends on the piece. ASHLUME chains are made of Grade 1 titanium, which is commercially pure titanium. ASHLUME rings are made of ASTM F136 titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI), which is titanium combined with small amounts of aluminum and vanadium. Both are solid titanium, with no plating or coating.

What’s the difference between Grade 1 and F136 titanium?

Grade 1 is commercially pure titanium. It’s the softest and most flexible titanium grade and has excellent corrosion resistance, which suits our chains. F136 is a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) made with about 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, which makes it stronger and more wear-resistant. It’s the implant-grade alloy we use for our rings. Is ASHLUME jewelry hypoallergenic?

ASHLUME jewelry is nickel-free and has no brass or plating. Nickel is the most common cause of metal contact allergies, and most people with sensitive skin wear titanium comfortably. Our rings are made from the same alloy used in medical implants. No metal works for everyone, so if you have a severe metal allergy, check with your doctor first.

Will ASHLUME jewelry tarnish or turn my skin green?

No. Titanium doesn’t rust or tarnish, and because there’s no plating, there’s nothing to wear through to a base metal that could turn your skin green.

Does ASHLUME jewelry scratch?

Yes, eventually, like any metal. Titanium is strong and lightweight, but it isn’t scratch-proof. Everyday wear leaves small marks over time. That’s normal wear, not a defect.

What does the ASHLUME lifetime warranty cover?

Structural fractures, mechanism failures, and corrosion, for as long as you own the piece. You get one replacement or store credit per item. It doesn’t cover loss or normal surface wear. See our warranty terms.
